Fried Kuey Teow with Duck Egg

Dad bought dinner/supper for himself just now and of course I tumpang makan - Fried Kuey Teow with Duck Egg (鸭蛋炒果条) from Puchong's Medan Selera.

Mom’s myth on Fried Kuey Teow with Duck Egg:
用鸭蛋炒的果条是特别香的
(Direct translation: fried kuey teow with duck egg will have better taste and fragrant)

Believe it or not?

The fried kuey teow that I tried was really good. I’m not sure if they’re famous and good at char kuey teow or it’s the duck egg that make the difference. However, sad thing is I can't manage to taste the difference between chicken egg and duck egg.

Tell me what do you think?

Last Tuesday, dad woke up early to prepare breakfast for me. It was carried to work in a nice bento box.

Just want to thank him for the concern he shows, especially after the unhappy incident happened to me.

Justin Lo Live In Genting 2010

Justin last held his concert in Resorts World Genting in October 2008 to an overwhelming response. I wanted to attend his concert so badly that year. Unfortunately, I was not allowed to for several reasons:

1. I went to Genting a week before his show (that was how eventually I found out the concert).
2. At the same week, I'm flying off to Perth for a family holiday.
3. And I felt sick too!

“Bad timing and regretful,” I thought myself.

Please don’t get me wrong. I’m not a fan of Justin, but I admire his songs. My favourite song is 命硬 (Hard Life) – a must sing K song. What about yours?

Finally, here’s my chance again to catch him live as he will be returning to the Arena of Stars this August. Details as below:

Date: 14 August 2010 (Saturday)
Time: 8.00pm
Venue: Arena of Stars

I managed to reserve (in fact, it’s confirmed) two PS2 tickets at an early bird rate. It was very frustrating each time when I tried calling Genting hotlink, the pre-recorded operator will repeat the same message:

“Thank you for calling Genting, our agents is unavailable at the moment. For xxx, please sms to xxxx and for other reservations and shows, please visit our website at http://www.rwgenting.com or call back later.”

Feeling frustrated? Genting, I urge you to please address the issue seriously.

The Return of Miss Emo Singapore

Yes, if you didn’t realise, Zoe Leong Yin Mun has been renamed from Miss Singapore to Miss Emo Singapore - because she has been very emo for the past one year.

Moving on, Miss Emo Singaporean came back to Malaysia last week - kononnya wanna clear her unclearable annual leave. A week before she is back, she started to MSN and email us, die-dying wanna eat seafood. Choices between Jalan Alor or Restaurant Tak Fok She's envy after reading my blog entry about 得福小厨 , simply because she can’t find nice seafood in Singapore (too bad!) and bising us to bring her.

Malaysian practice Malaysian Hospitality and we’re Malaysian (duhh!). We skipped Jalan Alor to avoid being slaughter like a tourist. Hence, our only option left is with 得福小厨. Moreover, they are having promotion currently - order any two dishes and enjoy crab offer at RM20 per kg expect 咸香蟹 at RM21 per kg.

Tempting?

Since I had 咸香蟹 and 奶酪蟹 the last time I visited, we moved on to try 金香蟹 and 酸辣蟹.

Iris and Zoe kept complaining that the crabs’ sizes are pathetic. Sorry lah, this is out of my control. But I admitted that the size is smaller (much more) compared to my last visit. Honestly, I think it’s less than a kg.

I hope the boss is not trying to cheat youngsters like us with a small crab.

Nyonya Imperial

Dad: What’s for dinner? We’ll let Pui Fun to pick since she’s in a depressing mood now.

(Pui Fun: *sweating*)

Pui Fun: I don't know what to eat, why not you ask che che?

Mom: Aiyah, let’s go Dengkil. RM30++ can stuff our stomach full full.

Dad: But that’s not what she likes. What about Sri Penang?

Pui Fun: Ok, I don’t want Kitchen Village and Sri Penang.

(Dad continues driving)

Dad: There’s this Nyonya restaurant in Puchong, which is Halal. Maybe we can give it a try? Hmm, let me call friend A and B to get some comments.

(Dad’s calling)

Friend A: The place ah, so-so only leh.

Friend B: I think it was quite good.

So, there we went.

Nyonya Imperial located at Bandar Puteri Puchong.

I adored white and red are chosen as the theme. It gives me a contemporary yet traditional atmosphere.

A white stairway, decorated with elegant crystal lamp, allowed access to the top floor - an open area.

Now, here comes the F&B.

According to the restaurant manager, their most famous or favourable dishes are:

1. Curry Fish Head
2. Curry Chicken Kapitan
3. Petai Sambal Prawn
4. Penang Butter Prawn

However, amongst the four introduced dishes , we only picked one. Reason being, I don’t eat fish head; I don’t eat petai; butter prawn is too expensive.

Chicken Lobak

Curry Chicken Kapitan

Kai Lan with Salted Fish

Egg Tofu

Lemon Bali Ice

Finally, we all agreed to trust Friend A, that the foods served here are so-so only (it's not awful but it's not impressive either). We managed to locate a better Nyonya restaurant in Puchong as well, called Home Cook. I’ll definitely feature it the next time.

Second Wife

The moment of truth has finally arrived, the fact that I'm gonna accept in regardless. The arrival of his second wife.

In fact, is this his second or third wife?

1. Jess
2. Bball
3. Vois

Ah! Should be the third wife. Sorry, my mistake!

The arrival of his third wife, Toyota Vios 1.5 G-Spec (featuring my car).

Jeng jeng jeng! *applause please*

Vios: Do I look more photogenic on the left or right angle?

Friday, 16 April 2010, 11.31pm Local Time

I'm alone in the office trying to finish my work. No date.

I prefer to have a peaceful than a hectic and disturbed weekend worrying about work (I suppose everyone does, right?)

Working, chatting with Emo Singaporean and missing someone that has been sent to Hong Kong for Digital Academy too - not so badly lah!

It could be quite scary sometimes staying up late in the office ALONE, especially when I thought of our beloved intern – Melinda’s story about the ladies washroom.

Nevertheless, have a great weekend, everyone!

Penjaja Gallery Jalan Tun H.S. Lee

Location:
Jalan Tun H.S. Lee
Wet Market - Behind Petaling Street

Famous for:

Curry Laksa (咖喱叻沙)

Yong Tau Foo (酿豆腐)

Chee Cheong Fun (猪肠粉)

That was my recent return after several years. My thought for this return trip - decent food, not superb. No longer "WOW, SO NICE!"
